South Australian Community Garden case studies

Why are we doing it?

Alex, our story collector and writer, has two main motives for writing this resource:

  1. I want to learn from other gardeners!

I am the chairperson of the North Brighton Community Garden and since we first broke round – in mid-2019 – I have found that the list of questions I have is still ever-growing!

  2. I want to share the knowledge!

I am also one of the South Australian representatives for Community Gardens Australia and often work with people to help them establish gardens, but of course, my experience is limited, hence my desire to create a comprehensive resource!

What we are doing…

We are working to build a collection of case studies looking at some of the awesome community gardens around SA. These case studies will detail the successes and challenges of community gardens and the various management styles.

Can you help?

Community gardens are such beautiful spaces that must be treasured. We all know they can be tough to start up – but if we can all pitch in and help each other I know we can create an amazing network of support.

Please let me know if you can spare some time to meet with me and share your story. At this stage, I have a very tentative dream to create an online and published handbook that can be shared. Until then, I will share the information I collect via the SA Community Gardens Network Facebook page. You can also sign up for emails here.

Look forward to hearing from you.
